Been trying to figure this one out for a bit now and don't know what's missing. I've rebuilt all packages on system since.

I'll look at this properly later, but inmediately I notice a custom patch is being applied. Can you reproduce this without that patch?
Comment 2 Esteve Varela Colominas 2021-06-04 11:16:46 UTC
Nevermind, I've reproduced this with your USE flag combination.

Fix was already upstream, applying locally...
Lovely how USE=-dbus seems to keep breaking every single update.

    net-im/telegram-desktop: Fix USE=-dbus

No revbump since it wasn't able to build, and this has no single chance
    of affecting anything *but* USE=-dbus.

Comment 5 Georgy Yakovlev archtester gentoo-dev 2021-06-04 18:49:35 UTC
It's one of those "community maintained" features that is never tested in upstream builds.

If it keeps breaking I think it will be reasonable to remove this flag from ebuild completely, as it's kinda hard to actually build rest of the system without dbus due to big chunk of dependencies pulling it unconditionally.
Comment 6 Esteve Varela Colominas 2021-06-04 21:00:32 UTC
For some reason I thought it was part of their CI matrix, but I guess it's not.
Oh well, currently it's still possible to use Telegram without D-Bus, and there's enough people interested given we get bug reports for it and it tends to be fixed upstream before we notice, so I see no reason to remove it. Might want to test it more often, however...
