when you emerge lilo it puts an example config in /etc, it says "delay=50" but that is incorrect and should be "timeout=50".

Oh I didnt realize that, sorry. Actually it doesnt boot, it requires the user to hit enter to boot the distro, just a suggestion, you might want to add that in.
