Hm, this one looks more unusual. I suspected binutils but it works with gcc10.

Created attachment 735815 [details, diff] Disables TLS (thread-local storage) Disabling TLS (thread-local storage) in the makefile makes it compile fine in gcc 11.2 (see patch in attachment). When NO_TLS is defined, it uses a different method for achieving the same thing, which makes me wonder why it uses TLS in the first place.
