Irrelevant, but related error

First report, hope I'm doing this right.
From the current xorg-server/xorg-server-1.20.11.ebuild ebuild:
" !systemd? ( gui-libs/display-manager-init )"

Judging by the blog post https://www.gentoo.org/support/news-items/2021-01-30-display-manager-init.html I'm guessing this is intentional, but I've only ever used xinit to run X and don't want to install any display managers. I'm sure many other users feel the same way.

Also, display-manager-init appears to conflict with nvidia-drivers somehow, but I don't want to create a formal bug report until I've confirmed that's really the case. The rest of my system is somewhat broken, and months out of date, and I haven't really wrapped my head around solving world update problems, so there might be another issue at hand. I'll attach a piece of the output, even though it's not really relevant. Command line was "sudo emerge --ask --update --newuse --deep @world", I haven't found a more specific command to make emerge claim that display-manager-init and nvidia-drivers can't exist on the same system, and adding --info would print way too much information.
