The first beta for OpenEXR-3 has been released. I'll prepare a PR ASAP and would like to use the time until final release to check the numerous revdeps. I'd like to mask the beta package for now, until we have fixed any potential issues with revdeps. Reproducible: Always
>=kde-frameworks/kimageformats-5.82.0 will have support for it: https://invent.kde.org/frameworks/kimageformats/-/commit/2429c9533621d32f4ab5350856945cc0ad659ae5
Nice! media-gfx/alembic-1.8.0 which is waiting in a PR also has support for imath builtin. Hopefully it will not take too long until all revdeps have been updated, considering the effort will be very minimal for most consumers. Only those, which currently depend on both, openexr and ilmbase will have a little more overhead, but still manageable. Upstream intentionally didn't introduce breaking changes, so a smooth move to the new release and the new imath package should be possible.
