Hmm it looks like upstream has recently dropped openrc scripts from their package, https://github.com/ossec/ossec-hids/issues/1230 essentially making this systemd-only on Gentoo? But it doesn't look like systemd service files are installed either (or maybe it has some automagic detection, and they don't appear on my openrc system) We may need ship our own openrc files to get this working on openrc. Would you be willing to make a Github PR fixing the package? It looks to be in a poor state, and would benefit from a maintainer.
