Description Aaron Bohannon 2005-01-05 12:53:43 UTC
Nautilus 2.8.2-r1 (and perhaps other 2.8 versions) does not recognize scripts that are placed in the "~/.gnome2/nautilus-scripts" directory. My scripts were working fine in 2.6 and were no longer recognized after the upgrade, nor did they work in a freshly installed Gentoo OS with Nautilus 2.8.2. If there is a subdirectory in the nautilus-scripts folder, then nautilus will display the "Scripts" menu item and will show the subdirectory in the menu, but will not show any of the executable scripts in the top-level scripts directory or any of the subdirectories.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Put an executable file in the folder "~/.gnome2/nautilus-scripts".
2. Check the File menu in Nautilus.

Actual Results:
There is no "Scripts" menu item.

Expected Results:
There should be a "Scripts" menu item with the name of the script in a submenu.

I have a funny feeling that this is missing from 2.8 versions of nautilus, I think I read it somewhere, needs investigation.
Comment 2 Joe McCann (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-01-11 00:09:23 UTC
Scripts work fine for me with latest versions of nautilus

According to http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=153734 the issue comes from shared-mime-info-0.14, and should be fixed by 0.15 (which is masked in portage).
Comment 5 foser (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-01-15 10:59:17 UTC
see bug #66195 for what needs to be done.
Comment 6 foser (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-03-02 14:12:34 UTC
well #66195 .. no testreplies on that one.. assume since noone is complaining that it got fixed.

Marked 0.14-r2 x86 stable.
