I use sys-power/pm-utils on a laptop. It was now masked 5 days ago with the following comment: # Andreas Sturmlechner <asturm@gentoo.org> (2021-01-06) # Abandoned upstream, countless bugs. Replaced by builtin functionality in # elogind or systemd. Removal in 30 days. Bug #659616. As I use gentoo to not need systemd; my system is fully free of it. And I also do not want elogind on my system. pm-utils are the only solution to manage the pm on my system. Even more pm-utils is just a bunch of easy shell scripts. Not a overblown piece of software as systemd or (e)logind. So please don't remove that package! It is essentiall for systems like mine.
I haven't personally tried it but perhaps sys-power/suspend would work for you? >pm-suspend --> s2ram >pm-hibernate --> s2disk >pm-suspend-hybrid --> s2both Note taken from: https://archives.gentoo.org/gentoo-dev/message/e6410d2f1d69b4fd8aeaace6e8bbac04
Klaus, please test sys-power/suspend.
sys-power/suspend does indeed solve my issue.
