Description Ryan Bair 2004-12-23 18:40:57 UTC
When trying to emerge ettercap version 0.7.0 I get the following error as the first, followed by many many others, which I assume to be related.

wdg_file.c:26:18: menu.h: No such file or directory
wdg_file.c:41: error: syntax error before "MENU"

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1.Simply 'emerge ettercap'
2.
3.

Actual Results:
The build failed with the error message described above.

Expected Results:
I had hoped for a sucessful build.

what version of x11-libs/wxGTK and sys-libs/ncurses do you have?
I have x11-libs/wxGTK-2.4.2-r2 and sys-libs/ncurses-5.4-r5 it compiles fine.

Does upgrading either of these packages enable this to be compiled.

BTW I've added 0.7.2. Please test this version too.

Latest & Greatest ~x86 here, no X, 0.7.2 still fails in the same way...

The problem was resolved by upgrading ncurses to the newest version. This system was built in mid-december, but I don't recall the version of ncurses that was installed previously.

This was also causing me grief with a few other ncurses based programs.

If you are having problems you might want to try USE="-gtk" or the same for ncurses to help see if that is where your problems are origonating.

I'm using the latest ncurses with -gtk and still have the same build failure.
Comment 10 postmodern 2005-02-23 01:45:57 UTC
Ahh wait, I re-emerged ncurses and now it builds.
