I seems to need the nsc-ircc driver. In my laptop, with 32 bit kernel, I load this module to be able to use IRDA (well, just some dumped message for now). In the 64 bit kernel I cannot find it. Its presence in the menu seems to depend on the selection of ISA. ISA is not there; I thought it is removed cause is an amd64. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. 2. 3.
I suppose should be assigned to some kernel developer, changing source to let user select ISA also on a 64 bit system. I think ISA support is necessary to use this chip, and to access to other MB resource. But I'm not an expert on that
which kernel are you using?
Using the 2.6.9-r9
x86_64
I found something about making nsc_ircc not depending upon ISA http://lists.suse.com/archive/suse-amd64/2004-Oct/0189.html
This is not a specific problem with gentoo's kernel patches, please file a bug for this at http://bugzilla.kernel.org
2.6.12 kernel version seems to fix that
