I've discover this bug on a pentium3 laptop i haven't the log but i remember that the error after the 'configure' was about libtools and distcc, so after some test on flag or on 2.2.2 version (i thought they were too aggressive flags) i've try to disable the distcc feature and all is working now. So i searched here something about and i've found this: http://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=69302 He had problem on dual pcu i had problem on cross compiling, like the Distcc Guide on documentation said: "Note: During bootstrap and emerge system Distcc may not appear to be used. This is expected as some ebuilds do not work well with distcc, so they intentionally disable it." I think it's only needed to enable this feature to disable the use of distcc on the ebuild Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. activate the support for distcc in make.conf FEATURES="distcc" MAKEOPTS="-j5 CC=distcc" 2. try 'emerge fontconfig' Sorry for my really bad english :) If u want to rewrite it with right verbal form and syntax fell free to do it :)
