As mentioned in bug 47447, there was an issue about portage emerging the binaries of bluefish to the image directory, instead of to the real target (DESTDIR?) directory. It seemed to be solved there, but now a non-working ebuild is present in the portage tree. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. emerge sync 2. emerge -a bluefish 3. /usr/bin/bluefish Actual Results: bash: /usr/bin/bluefish: No such file or directory Expected Results: start up bluefish ########################################### qpkg -l bluefish ########################################### app-editors/bluefish-0.13 * CONTENTS: /var /var/tmp /var/tmp/portage /var/tmp/portage/bluefish-0.13 /var/tmp/portage/bluefish-0.13/image /var/tmp/portage/bluefish-0.13/image/usr /var/tmp/portage/bluefish-0.13/image/usr/bin /var/tmp/portage/bluefish-0.13/image/usr/bin/bluefish /var/tmp/portage/bluefish-0.13/image/usr/share /var/tmp/portage/bluefish-0.13/image/usr/share/bluefish /var/tmp/portage/bluefish-0.13/image/usr/share/bluefish/bluefish_splash.png /usr /usr/share /usr/share/mime-info /usr/share/mime-info/bluefish.keys /usr/share/mime-info/bluefish.mime /usr/share/gnome /usr/share/gnome/apps /usr/share/gnome/apps/Applications /usr/share/gnome/apps/Applications/bluefish.desktop /usr/share/bluefish /usr/share/bluefish/icon_php.png /usr/share/bluefish/highlighting.default /usr/share/bluefish/funcref_php.xml /usr/share/bluefish/icon_xml.png /usr/share/bluefish/filetypes.default /usr/share/bluefish/icon_dir.png /usr/share/bluefish/icon_pascal.png /usr/share/bluefish/icon_unknown.png /usr/share/bluefish/funcref_css.xml /usr/share/bluefish/icon_java.png /usr/share/bluefish/icon_python.png /usr/share/bluefish/icon_c.png /usr/share/bluefish/encodings.default /usr/share/bluefish/icon_r.png /usr/share/bluefish/funcref_html.xml /usr/share/bluefish/icon_image.png /usr/share/bluefish/icon_cfml.png /usr/share/bluefish/icon_html.png /usr/share/bluefish/funcref_python.xml /usr/share/bluefish/custom_menu.default /usr/share/application-registry /usr/share/application-registry/bluefish.applications /usr/share/applications /usr/share/applications/bluefish.desktop /usr/share/pixmaps /usr/share/pixmaps/bluefish-icon.png /usr/share/pixmaps/gnome-application-bluefish.png ########################################### emerge info ########################################### Portage 2.0.51-r8 (default-linux/x86/2004.0, gcc-3.3.4, glibc-2.3.4.20041102-r0, 2.6.8-gentoo-r3 i686) ================================================================= System uname: 2.6.8-gentoo-r3 i686 Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 1.80GHz Gentoo Base System version 1.6.7 Python: dev-lang/python-2.3.4 [2.3.4 (#1, Jun 6 2004, 14:17:11)] distcc 2.18 i686-pc-linux-gnu (protocols 1 and 2) (default port 3632) [enabled] ccache version 2.3 [enabled] dev-lang/python: 2.3.4 sys-devel/autoconf: 2.59-r6 sys-devel/automake: 1.8.5-r1, 1.9.3 sys-devel/binutils: 2.15.92.0.2-r1 sys-devel/libtool: 1.5.2-r5 virtual/os-headers: 2.4.22 ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="x86 ~x86" AUTOCLEAN="yes" CFLAGS="-march=pentium4 -O3 -pipe" CHOST="i686-pc-linux-gnu" CONFIG_PROTECT="/etc /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/xkb /usr/kde/2/share/config /usr/kde/3.2/share/config /usr/kde/3.3/env /usr/kde/3.3/share/config /usr/kde/3.3/shutdown /usr/kde/3/share/config /usr/share/config /var/qmail/control" CONFIG_PROTECT_MASK="/etc/gconf /etc/terminfo /etc/env.d" CXXFLAGS="-march=pentium4 -O3 -pipe" DISTDIR="/usr/portage/distfiles" FEATURES="autoaddcvs autoconfig buildpkg candy ccache distcc distlocks sandbox sfperms" GENTOO_MIRRORS="http://ftp.gentoo.skynet.be/pub/gentoo/ ftp://ftp.gentoo.skynet.be/pub/gentoo/ http://ftp.belnet.be/mirror/rsync.gentoo.org/gentoo/ ftp://ftp.belnet.be/mirror/rsync.gentoo.org/gentoo/" MAKEOPTS="-j8" PKGDIR="/usr/portage/packages_grote" PORTAGE_TMPDIR="/var/tmp" PORTDIR="/usr/portage" PORTDIR_OVERLAY="" SYNC="rsync://rsync.gentoo.org/gentoo-portage" USE="X aalib alsa apache2 apm arts avi berkdb bitmap-fonts cdr chroot codecs crypt cups divx4linux dvd dvdread encode esd f77 fam flac font-server foomaticdb ftp gdbm gif gpm gs gtk gtk2 icq imagemagick imap imlib jabber java jpeg junit kde libg++ libwww mad maildir mikmod mmx motif mpeg msn ncurses network offensive oggvorbis opengl oss pam pdflib perl png ppds python qt quicktime radeon readline real rtc slang spell sse sse2 ssl svga tcpd tiff truetype truetype-fonts type1-fonts usb userlocales x86 xml2 xmms xv xvid zlib video_cards_radeon"
I am noticing this as well. It is repeatable
Created attachment 46271 [details, diff] fixes bluefish-0.13 ebuild to use make install instead of einstall Hanno Boeck changed the ebuild from bug #47447 before checking it into cvs. What he thought to be just cosmetical unfortunately broke the install process. This little patch fixes it. Simply put, for now the bluefish ebuild must not use the einstall function as bluefish's makefiles are incompatible with it. Hope this helps... and have a nice weekend. :-)
Fixed, thanks
