When trying to update gettext as part of general system updated, the compilation of gettext fails to complete and it tells me to submit a bug report. What gcc version did you use?

I had no trouble. Try removing some gcc flags. Many thanks. Changing the CFLAGS seems to have solved the problem. I just copied yours and changed the -Os to -O2 and altered the -mtune to 740. Can't seem to find anything about -mtune in the PPC handbook. Or -mcpu either, now I come to mention it. How odd. Must have changed with the 2004.3 release.
