Latest version of ck-sources available is 5.4.48, but on upstream website [1] patches for 5.7 are available. [1] http://www.users.on.net/~ckolivas/kernel/
In fact, now its possible to bump to version 5.9 too. http://ck.kolivas.org/patches/5.0/5.9/5.9-ck1/patches/
(In reply to Eduardo Frazão from comment #1) > In fact, now its possible to bump to version 5.9 too. > > http://ck.kolivas.org/patches/5.0/5.9/5.9-ck1/patches/ I am fixing to send an email to -dev ml announcing the masking of ck-sources. I recommend if you want to continue to use Con's work moving to zen-sources.
The bug has been referenced in the following commit(s): https://gitweb.gentoo.org/repo/gentoo.git/commit/?id=b2e1d96b6ed395fcd5d0f8c11a8fb79be7a4aec6 commit b2e1d96b6ed395fcd5d0f8c11a8fb79be7a4aec6 Author: Joonas Niilola <juippis@gentoo.org> AuthorDate: 2020-12-01 10:37:23 +0000 Commit: Joonas Niilola <juippis@gentoo.org> CommitDate: 2020-12-01 10:39:00 +0000 package.mask: mask unmaintained old kernel-sources Bug: https://bugs.gentoo.org/716490 Bug: https://bugs.gentoo.org/739782 Bug: https://bugs.gentoo.org/757843 Signed-off-by: Joonas Niilola <juippis@gentoo.org> profiles/package.mask | 9 +++++++++ 1 file changed, 9 insertions(+)
Can we ping gokturk on this? He was handling maintainership, at least temporarily with kuzetska as proxy maintainer until early this year. I think there are enough users of ck-sources to make this worthwhile to continue the package. I'm not at all qualified to maintain, but can contribute as a tester if needed to keep it going. Let me know if there is anything I can do to help. I'd hate to see the package simply dropped.
You can send him e-mail any time. Regarding ck-sources, even the maintainer is unsure about its future: https://ck-hack.blogspot.com/2020/08/more-delays-and-motivation-issues.html As CK offers the plain patch file in his website, you should be able to use /etc/portage/patches to patch almost any kernel source package in your system. Or as mentioned, use zen-sources that include the -ck patch set currently.
Yeah, I sent off an email on Thursday with no response from gokturk, so he might be busy. As for Con, I'm a regular in #ck on IRC for years, and Con sometimes does suffer from boredom. In the end though, I'm quite sure he will continue to make patches, although it might take some time for him to get inspired again. I've been rolling my own for a while now, but for anyone wo is interested the 'pross overlay' contains up-to-date ebuilds for 5.9.x [up to .12] and the ebuilds do work, so you can add that overlay and use those until the smoke either clears or goes away.
The above-mentioned 'pross overlay' now contains ebuilds for 5.9.13 and 5.9.14.
