Does this package actually use python? It appears to build fine with python2.7 not present, and is the install image looks the same as when it is.
FWICS python is used for docs somehow. configure clearly has a check for Python but maybe it'd be good enough to workaround it somehow.
Sure, but it doesn't seem to actually do anything, and appears to work fine without. So, let's just remove the dependency unless there's any objection.
