For now I need to use app-emulation/virtualbox virtual machines. For a time I was wondered on no expected action for clicking poweroff button. And only later I've noticed, what it does: it closes virtualbox main wondow. It virtualbox is not started the first pressure makes what expected. Strange subject update. Maybe I wasn't clear enough. The logout and poweroff buttons are pressed on host system. No virtual machine is active, only main window of virtualbox. P.S. If matter: I use XFce desktop started via slim login manager.
I can recreate this issue using startx to open XFCE, so SLiM is not relevant.
