On a ublibc system, glib cannot be merged currently. When meson configures the library it assumes that the C library provides iconv_open which is not true for ublibc-ng. Usually, GNU's libiconv is used as a substitute to the provide the functionality. There is a meson option to change the iconv implementation, "-Diconv". Setting this option to "gnu" detects the library and the build succeeds. As a quickfix, I've changed the multilib_src_configure function in the ebuild and added -Diconv=gnu to the local_emesonargs. However, there needs to be check a check for the actual C library in use, like "if use elibc_uclibc" or similar.
