Description Anders Lund 2004-11-12 01:54:12 UTC
After installint apache, I seem to have a hard link to /usr/lib in /etc/apache/lib. This is *INSANE*. It is not possible to search or grep in /etc with this kind of directories in there. Stuff like this makes gentoo a *very bad* choice, since to retain a usable /etc directory i need to install apache on my own, woops there goes the advantage of package management.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. emerge apache
2.
3.

Actual Results:
/etc/apache/lib contained 100000000000000000000000000000 files not belonging
there

Expected Results:
used a sane configuration

this is fixed in the apache herds overlay
Comment 2 Sandro Bonazzola (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-12-30 10:32:12 UTC
In the last few months, I've not found a working ebuild of apache, any version, that run after a clean install from scratch of the system. If apache itself run, any module don't run. Maybe more testing is needed before releasing the new ebuilds.

Sandro, if your having no success whatsoever with any of the Apache ebuilds, it sounds like there is either something seriously wrong with your setup(s), or something is intefering with the execution of Apache (guess work of course).

Next time this happens to you, please file a bug, with as much information as possible. If we don't know about an issue, we can't try and fix it. :-)

Thanks.
Comment 4 Benedikt Böhm (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-01-28 09:50:52 UTC
this is fixed in the currently hard masked ebuilds (1.3.33-r1 + 2.0.52-r3)

please unmask and test
