Please try version 0.8.3 that is in unstable (~x86)

I this don't work you should take a look at bugs.kde.org if this is already reported or report it there. Let us know.
Comment 2 Felix Hammer 2004-11-11 07:20:51 UTC
i tried kdetv-0.8.3 and had following problems:

http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=92908
Comment 3 Simone Gotti (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-11-11 07:32:06 UTC
Ok. So if this works with kdetv-0.8.0 it's probably another kdetv issue. Please report all of them upstream so they can be fixed.
Comment 4 Felix Hammer 2004-11-11 07:47:23 UTC
sorry for my bad english but i didn't understand your last words: Please report all of them upstream so they can be fixed.
All of what? What means upstream in this context?
Comment 5 Felix Hammer 2004-11-11 14:37:17 UTC
may be this is the problem:
http://lists.kde.org/?l=kwintv&m=109931336106350&w=2

i try to geht it work with this solution. will tell you if it works
Comment 6 Felix Hammer 2004-11-12 10:10:26 UTC
i try to do it with the hints above:

1. emerge =media-tv/kdetv-0.8.0
2. try to switch to /var/tmp/portage/kdetv-0.8.0/work/kdetv-0.8.0
that doesnt work because after emerging the work/kdetv-0.8.0 directory is
deleted.
3. i do emerge =media-tv/kdetv-0.8.0 another time an stop emerging
after ./configure is done.
4. now i switch to /var/tmp/portage/kdetv-0.8.0/work/kdetv-0.8.0 and do make
uninstall there
5. emerge -C =media-tv/kdetv-0.8.0
6. i do the same for kdetv-0.8.2 because i tried this also times ago.
7. then i do: "emerge =media-tv/kdetv-0.8.3"

but i get always the "NO Devices error message" on startup.
what i'am doing wrong?
Comment 7 Simone Gotti (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-11-12 10:54:32 UTC
Please try this:

emerge -C kdetv
emerge =kdetv-0.8.0
emerge -C kdetv
emerge =kdetv-0.8.3

probably the problem is cause by a fix_libtool_files.sh that changed the mtime of the .la files and then these aren't removed?
Comment 8 Felix Hammer 2004-11-12 12:21:47 UTC
if have tried but it doesnt works. another time the "no devide detected" error.
but i have found a message during emerge kdetv-0.8.3:
QA Notice: /usr/bin/kv4lsetup is setXid, dynamically linked and using lazy bindings.
This combination is generally discouraged. Try: LDFLAGS='-Wl,-z,now' emerge kdetv

is that a problem? or can it be a problem that i have tvtime installed?
Comment 9 Felix Hammer 2004-11-15 00:37:49 UTC
the people on the kwintv-list told me to try this.

cp /usr/lib/opengl/nvidia/lib/libnvidia-tls.so.1.0.6111
/usr/lib/opengl/nvidia/tls/

opengl-update nvidia

It seems that the nvidia glx stuff includes two copies of the
libnvidia-tls (each is a different file size), and only one of them
works? The command above copies the one that works over top of the one
that doesn't."

now it works great. but i tried with kdetv-0.8.4 (released yesterday, ebuild from http://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=71200 ) and the gentoo-dev-sources-2.6.9-r1 with the latest patch from http://dl.bytesex.org/patches/2.6.9-rc4-1/
Comment 10 Carsten Lohrke (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-11-23 14:23:53 UTC
Felix:

>cp /usr/lib/opengl/nvidia/lib/libnvidia-tls.so.1.0.6111
>/usr/lib/opengl/nvidia/tls/
>
>opengl-update nvidia

fixed it for you!? I'm just wondering, because the lib is exactly there, where you copy it to on my box.
Comment 11 Felix Hammer 2004-11-23 17:03:48 UTC
yes that fix it for me. take a look at the "same" libs. are they really the same? someone at the kwintv-list told me that:

It seems that the nvidia glx stuff includes two copies of the
libnvidia-tls (each is a different file size), and only one of them
works? The command above copies the one that works over top of the one
that doesn't."
Comment 12 Carsten Lohrke (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-11-24 13:04:20 UTC
x11 herd: Is this a known issue, can you provide any input!? There's a similar problem with Totem (Bug 71698).
Comment 13 Felix Hammer 2004-11-24 13:11:12 UTC
what you mean with input?
