Hello there,

I really apreciate your effort in bringing LightDM to awesome Gentoo Linux distribution. Especially I'm happy about non_root USE flag in x11-misc/lightdm-1.30.0 - it lets me use my favourite lightdm-webkit2-greeter (webkit cannot be used with root privilages). I only have one complain:) During installation user lightdm is being created but it seems it lacks permissions to /var/lib/lightdm because when I start lightdm it shows only black screen with prompt blinking (regardless of chosen greeter - it happens to me with lightdm-gtk-greeter and also with lightdm-webkit2-greeter from my own ebuild).

RESOLUTION: I made user lightdm the owner of /var/lib/lightdm:
chown lightdm /var/lib/lightdm

After that everything seems to work like a charm:)

PS. I am just starting my adventures with Gentoo and it's ebuilds so please, don't bash me if I wrote something wrong;)

It is sad to read that you have problems with the software. The situation seems to be a bit more complicate and requires some analysis.
We can not help you efficiently via bug tracker. The bug tracker aims rather on specific problems in .ebuilds and less on individual systems.

I have had very good experience on the gentoo IRC [1] with questions like this. Of course there are also forums and mailing lists [2,3].
I hope you understand, that I will close the bug here therefore and wish you good luck on one of the mentioned channels [4].
Please reopen the ticket in order to provide an indication for an specific error in an ebuild or any gentoo related product.
