Description Daniel Herzog 2004-10-30 14:01:33 UTC
Could not find out which other package causes this, sorry. But I am sure I never touched this file, so it needs to belong to some others...

...maybe the set used while uninstalling is broken either locally or in general?

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Switch on collision-protect in FEATURES
2. emerge unifont

Actual Results:
* checking 4 files for package collisions
existing file /usr/share/fonts/unifont/fonts.dir is not owned by this package

Expected Results:
Clean install process.

Comment 1 Mamoru KOMACHI (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-10-31 22:36:48 UTC
Are you installing this package for the first time?
If you aren't, it might have been broken for uninstall.
What do `ls /usr/share/fonts/unifont` and
`epm -qf /usr/share/fonts/unifont/fonts` say?
(epm is in app-portage/epm)
Comment 2 Daniel Herzog 2004-11-01 10:40:22 UTC
root@hoshino expose # epm -qf /usr/share/fonts/unifont/fonts.dir
file /usr/share/fonts/unifont/fonts.dir is not owned by any package

I was doing a tree rebuild. This means it was a re-emerge of unifont so it is hardly possible that there was a unclean uninstall...
Comment 3 Donnie Berkholz (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-11-01 11:00:56 UTC
Do you use xfs? the xfs init script (re)generates these files.
Comment 4 Sascha Silbe 2004-11-07 07:48:52 UTC
This bug is directly related to bug #70354. I suggest fixing font.eclass and using it in media-fonts/unifont, too.
Comment 5 Daniel Herzog 2005-04-17 04:34:35 UTC
Noone seems to work on that, bug #70354 is even closed.

Coming from Bug 142836,

I don't understand why this bug is closed and marked as WONTFIX.

I think that fonts ebuilds should regenerate the cache and shouldn't overwrite the ones you have in your machine.

Could anybody explain me?
