Description Jaak Ristioja 2004-10-29 05:53:34 UTC
Thunderbird and Firefox hang!

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. update to gtk-2.4.9-r1
2. re-emerge/update thunderbird or firefox (emerge doesn't finish configuring the newly-installed app)
Optional: 3. rn thunderbird or firefox

Actual Results:
At step 2 it started registering some stuff (regchrome or similar) and just got
stuck. Ctrl-Z was the way out for me. When running the (partially-emerged?)
programs Thunderbird or Firefox.

Expected Results:
Working thunderbird and firefox.

Thunderbird nor Firefox output any fatal errors. They just don't work with
USE="+gtk2". Without, everything works just fine.

not sure if this is amd64-related or not

> 2. re-emerge/update thunderbird or firefox (emerge doesn't finish configuring the newly-installed app)
can we get a copy&paste of the error? 'emerge info' would also be helpful

i can't confirm this and i'm on a amd64 machine too...

There is no error output! It does not quit some program it runs. Its just STUCK. It doesn't return any error output nor does it exit itself (return to the console).

anyway, as i'm using thunderbird and firefox with "-gtk2" and downgraded to gtk+-2.4.4 just to avoid future problems, i'm really not in the mood nor do i have the time to re-emerge gtk+-2.4.9-r1 and thunderbird or firefox. Sorry guys. Hope you can find the bug.

could you do a strace and attach it here? that would be great. otherwise, there's no way to fix this since i can't repoduce it
