I atm install Gentoo on a Mac and found that some info is missing. One could add the following (or similar of course) to section "4.c. Default: Using mac-fdisk (Apple/IBM) Partition your Disk": "Driver Entries: If you happen to see some driver entries in you partition table, which mac-fdisk cannot delete yet, please delete them using parted, and switch back to mac-fdisk then. Note: If you do not see the partitions after you created and saved them (in order to create the new filesystems later on) try to start mac-fdisk again and reinitialize the partition map by pressing "i" - but notice that this will destroy the partition tables and you will need to do all the partitioning again." I think this is rather important information, and can save alot of time of told in the handbook, no matter wether it will be needed often or not... There may be language mistakes in my text above since I'm german. If so, please correct them :) Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: Nothing here. Actual Results: Nothing here. Expected Results: Nothing here. Nothing here.
PPC-team, can you verify this and tell the PPC docdev (currently SeJo) if the proposed documentation update is sane? If it is, tell him to update hb-install-ppc-disk.xml, hb-install-ppc64-disk.xml and the same in the draft/ directory (used for upcoming 2004.3).
on it
updated all the docs greetings
Thanks; you did forget to bump the handbook-{ppc,ppc64}.xml files as required by the doc policy. I've done that for now, don't forget it in the future.
fixed in cvs.
