This release of binutils fixes a bug regarding section alignment in debug information. As a consequence, you need >=dev-libs/elfutils-0.175 and >=sys-devel/gdb-8.3 for proper operation. If you do not use these minimum versions, typical symptoms include failure to decode debug information and failure to complete a linux kernel build.

(I'm going to mask older elfutils once the stabilization is finished.)

binutils-2.32-r1 on amd64 does not cross-compile with gcc-9.1.
