I needed to check a postal address of a friend. What was my surprise when kaddressbook refused to display the contents of the location tab in contact details, saying something about a missing module and checking the installation - without any clue what exactly should I check, which module is missing.
Looking for solution, I have found this problem has been discussed already in Debian:
Emerging kdepim-addons fixed the problem for me too.
And I also think that kdepim-addons should be added to kaddressbook dependency chain, at least conditionally via some comprehensible USE flag.
We won't introduce a USE flag for an optional runtime dependency for sure. On the other hand, not having postal addresses available in a contact software seems important enough to make it a permanent RDEPEND.
I also stumbled upon this bug. An addressbook without postal addresses is quite useless I guess, but kdepim-addons have their own dependencies as well. If nothing else, please include some merge-message so people can make sense out of this situaion. I for myself did a complete reinstall and just then found the Debian bug. Could have saved myself a lot of hassle.
Please, whatever it will be, something needs to be done here.

kde-apps/kaddressbook: Add warning if kdepim-addons is not installed
In general, users expecting complete functionality are invited to use
kde-apps/kdepim-meta. This warning won't hurt though.
