It have been announced that net-analyzer/netcat6 will be removed in 30 days with the following note: # Michał Górny <mgorny@gentoo.org> (13 Mar 2019) # An ancient netcat clone that has been declared obsolete upstream, # yet keeps confusing Gentoo users into thinking it's better than # the original. Recommended alternatives are net-analyzer/netcat, # net-analyzer/openbsd-netcat, net-misc/socat... # Removal in 30 days. Bug #573814. Now I'm trying to update and I have a block conflict because there is packages depending on netcat6: emerge -cav net-analyzer/netcat6 net-analyzer/netcat6-1.0-r2 pulled in by: app-emulation/libvirt-5.0.0 requires >=net-analyzer/netcat6-1.0-r2 app-emulation/playonlinux-4.2.12 requires net-analyzer/netcat6 Reviewing ebuild dependencies the solution is to install net-analyzer/openbsd-netcat, but again is impossible because netcat6 blocks it. emerge -1av net-analyzer/openbsd-netcat [ebuild N ] net-analyzer/openbsd-netcat-1.190 [blocks B ] net-analyzer/netcat6 ("net-analyzer/netcat6" is blocking net-analyzer/openbsd-netcat-1.190) * Error: The above package list contains packages which cannot be * installed at the same time on the same system. (net-analyzer/netcat6-1.0-r2:0/0::gentoo, installed) pulled in by net-analyzer/netcat6 required by @selected (net-analyzer/openbsd-netcat-1.190:0/0::gentoo, ebuild scheduled for merge) pulled in by net-analyzer/openbsd-netcat
Forget to mention that playonlinux ebuild only accepts net-analyzer/netcat as an alternative to net-analyzer/netcat6. Since net-analyzer/netcat ("net-analyzer/netcat" is blocking net-analyzer/openbsd-netcat-1.190), it turns impossible to have playonlinux and libvirt installed at the same time.
