Ihave 2 popular patches which I have to manually add to each new qmail ebuild that comes down the line. I feel these are important enough to include in the ebuild itself. Please contact me via my email address and I will forward the patches to you for consideration. They are 1 SPF enable for qmail to enable qmail to respond properly to SPF reports about a particular connection. VERY helpful for spam elimination and quite time consuming to manually patch in. 2. doublebounce trim which will, depending on settings in 2 new config files in control, allow the system to simply delete doublebounces or put them into any special email account you reserve just for double bounces. With this patch a triple bounce is impossible. this is a small one (8 lines) but must be manually added due to existing patches. it also logs its actions in smtp-send log. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.must manually patch 2. 3.
Correction on the logging of doublebounce trim. It logs to qmail-send log.
spf coming from bug 40486 + libspf plugin. add a patch for the doublebounce trim.
Don't know if you are aware of it or not, but there is another spf patch which stands alone, does not require additional libraries and once adjusted for prepatched code, requires no gymnastics at all: http://www.saout.de/misc/spf/ if you would like I can place the double bounce trim patch here in comments since it is so short.
we'll be using the qmail SPP system as in #40486 primarily because it allows users to choose which of the new mail changes they want to use - SPF, Yahoo's DomainKeys, Microsoft's SenderID, and a few others, and supports all of them easily. I'd prefer if patches were still made as file attachments as that preserves whitespace properly.
Created attachment 45782 [details, diff] double-bounce-trim patch plus comments and instructions at beginning Here is the double bounce trim patch along with instructions detailing the use of new config files to control it.
Added to -r16, could you test it, please?
