The source of the warnings is the patch gs7.07.1-fontconfig-rh.patch. According to Redhat, this has been fixed in Rawhide since late June (see for example: http://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=126957). In the mean time, masking out >=app-text/ghostscript-7.07.1-r4 in /etc/portage/package.mask will revert you to the unpatched version.
so the question remains.. when will a new patch to fix this annoying warning message appear?
