The source of the warnings is the patch gs7.07.1-fontconfig-rh.patch. According to Redhat, this has been fixed in Rawhide since late June (see for example: http://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=126957). In the mean time, masking out >=app-text/ghostscript-7.07.1-r4 in /etc/portage/package.mask will revert you to the unpatched version.

so the question remains.. when will a new patch to fix this annoying warning message appear?
Comment 3 Heinrich Wendel (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-11-01 05:46:46 UTC
can you please point me to the patch, redhat applied in june?

Please see bug 71014 (http://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=71014), they are duplicates. I attached a patch to the bug report above.

Regards,
Matthias
