The current 1.8 has been superseded a few times since 2016. The current version upstream is 2.0.

Yes 2.0 is in my local overlay, but same problem.

Sorry for the late reply. Some problems in real life crept in.
 
In last days I set up an virtual machine with linux-4.19 kernel and linux-headers-4.19 for test. Using kernel version 4.14.14 and 4.14.16 I can not confirm the problem. linuxptp-1.8 and 2.0 are just compiling fine.

As 4.19.10 got dropped from tree I can not test with that kernel version any longer.

So please do a retest with actual kernel version and report back if the problem still exists.
