Description groepaz 2004-10-05 19:11:04 UTC
the topic says it all. opera 7.53 and 7.54 dynamically linked (which is what the ebuild installs) fail to start up, statically linked (installed manually) works great. revdep-rebuild says its a missing library "libXm.so.1". i had this fixed with some ugly symbolic linking on a different distro (no names... :=P) before, but maybe just using the static version is a better idea.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. emerge opera
2. run opera from a term (so you can see the error)
3.

libXm.so.1 can't be the problem, opera will fall back to libXm.so.2

could be this is gcc related. or a library version problem. however both good reasons to use the static version imho.

I removed the ppc shared version, it doesn't work because it's built with gcc-2.95
