gcc is compiled with USE=-f77 and I _do_ have f2c.

same problem here
Comment 3 Patrick Kursawe (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-10-21 05:15:19 UTC
Could someone with a fortran-less gcc please check if he has
/usr/lib/gcc-lib/i686-pc-linux-gnu/YOUR_VERSION_HERE/libg2c.so ?
When I link with this lib, all necessary symbols are found, but I am afraid it might be part of the Fortran option.
Comment 4 Vincenzo Piombo 2004-10-28 12:21:13 UTC
I don't have /usr/lib/gcc-lib/i686-pc-linux-gnu/3.3.4/libg2c.so

so the bypass would just be to install the fortran options ?
Comment 5 Vincenzo Piombo 2004-10-28 14:15:17 UTC
OK, added "f77" to use list, emerged gcc and now it builds correctly
Comment 6 Patrick Kursawe (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-11-30 07:03:02 UTC
Added the check from the newer version.
