I have made a fork of brainworkshop that does work (since the original is not maintained at all) as well as fixing many bugs. Let me know if there's any chance in gentoo switching. The repo is here: https://github.com/samcv/brainworkshop It's a nice brain game and I would be sad if it cannot be in portage anymore. Let me know if I can work with you to get my maintained version in portage.
I've mostly fixed the ebuild, will write more later.
