This bug is fixed, when rebuilding ocaml. It was a hardened profile migrated to 17.0, so ocaml was not rebuild after the switch. -> so maybe hardened 17.0 setups needs a rebuild of packages, too?
Hi Till, thanks for the update. Yes, any migration to whatever 17.0 profile should be carried out according to https://www.gentoo.org/support/news-items/2017-11-30-new-17-profiles.html
well, the profile upgrade message says: "If you are not already running a hardened setup with PIE enabled, then switching the profile involves the following steps […]" Thus, the guide was wrong in this case. I am unsure if this is some special behavior of unison. Currently it only in this single case to me. Maybe it has to do with the CLFAGS masking of the unison ebuild?
Sorry Till I overlooked the message. Hi Andreas, do you have insights into this bug?
I think the problem here is in ocaml executable that remembered to use -nopie at the time it was built.
(In reply to Sergei Trofimovich from comment #5) > I think the problem here is in ocaml executable that remembered to use > -nopie at the time it was built. Specifically from here: https://gitweb.gentoo.org/repo/gentoo.git/tree/dev-lang/ocaml/ocaml-4.04.2-r1.ebuild#n36 -nopie is <=gcc-5 Gentoo-specific flag. -no-pie is >=gcc-6 form of it. gcc-specs-pie() detects only support for -no-pie. I believe rebuilding ocaml (after switch to pie-by-default compiler) will fix the issue.
