Description email200202 2017-12-17 04:49:54 UTC
The error starts to happen after the latest kde-framework updates on ~amd64 computer.

Steps to reproduce:
1- Right-click to open the context menu on the Desktop.
2- Select "Create New > Text File"
3- Click OK to accept the default name
4- An error message "Malformed URL" is displayed and file is not created.

You get the same results if you use dolphin with "desktop:/" path.

But it works if you use dolphin with "~/Desktop/" path or anyother path.

There were similar bugs reported and patches for older versions of KIO.

I can confirm that the bug was not in kde-frameworks/kio-5.40.0 and its friends.
Comment 2 Andreas Sturmlechner gentoo-dev 2017-12-17 19:00:19 UTC
Did you upgrade to Qt-5.9.3?
Comment 3 email200202 2017-12-18 00:08:40 UTC
# emerge -pv dev-qt/qtcore

These are the packages that would be merged, in order:

Comment 4 Andreas Sturmlechner gentoo-dev 2017-12-18 01:42:53 UTC
So that's the reason for your trouble, not kio-5.41.0 itself.

Did you already update to KDE Applications 17.12.0 (latest ~arch)?
Comment 5 email200202 2017-12-18 02:26:05 UTC
I'm sorry I do not understand what you mean?

The bug happened when the computer was updated to Qt-5.9.3 and KDE Applications 17.12.0.
Comment 6 Andreas Sturmlechner gentoo-dev 2018-01-24 17:44:28 UTC
I cannot reproduce this issue with 5.42.
Comment 7 email200202 2018-01-25 06:18:07 UTC
I confirm it is not 5.42. I think they fixed it.
Comment 8 Andreas Sturmlechner gentoo-dev 2018-03-11 17:05:40 UTC
5.43.0 is now stable.
