Description Kristian Fiskerstrand (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2017-12-16 23:41:55 UTC
As a Gentoo foundation member, I request that the trustees follows up on the following inquiry;

The Gentoo foundation bylaws requires the evidence of ample evidence of contribution c.f "Full members are admitted by petitioning the trustees for membership, providing verifiable evidence of their contribution to Gentoo. " in Section 4.3. Admission of Members of the bylaws of the foundation.

Please provide ample evidence that Shentino, as approved in the foundation meeting of "2016/11/20,Approved Raymond Jennings (Shentino) for foundation membership" (c.f https://projects.gentoo.org/foundation/motions/2016_motions.txt ) has "providing verifiable evidence of their contribution to Gentoo"

can you make this part if bug 620010?
Comment 2 Raymond Jennings 2017-12-16 23:58:38 UTC
For the record I don't have access to bug 620010, which I think is my dev bug

I only found out about that bug being restricted/classified today when I spectated on today's trustee meeting.

My mistake, my dev bug is 592890, and I have no idea what bug 620010 is.

You were granted access to it

Raymond,
Applicants who are not Gentoo developers need to cite verifiable evidence of contributing to Gentoo or to the stated aims of the Gentoo Foundation.

When you applied for membership it is my belief that you exaggerated your contributions and now in hindsight they are not enough for foundation membership, that is my opinion.

I and promethanfire would seem to disagree.

As it is the audit of my membership qualifications does seem to be underway and I am being asked for assitance with the audit.

Note: There is no bylaw stating that the Trustees have to respond to requests for review of members that the Trustees have previously admitted. As taken from the bylaws...

Contributions will be verified. The decision of the trustees is final.

As a consequence of this, even if the Trustees were to add someone incorrectly, the Trustees would not be able to remove then under bylaw 4.3.

https://wiki.gentoo.org/wiki/Foundation:Bylaws#Section_4.3._Admission_of_Members

The Trustees would however be able to remove people under section 4.4 or 4.9 of our bylaws.

There is also no requirement to retain or gather evidence supporting the addition of a new member, just the verification of said new member.

Having said that, and under no obligation to close this as anything other than 'Resolved: Invalid', We, the current Trustees, will respond with the following.

In the original email (request for membership), Shentino did reference his contributions and they were verified. At your request we, the current Trustees, have re-verified his qualifications for membership and have validated the original decision made by the original voting Trustees.
