Created attachment 503818 [details] main patchset I've filtered and reworked 5.4.0's patch files to apply to 5.5.0 and copied existing gcc-5.4.0-r3. ebuild to gcc-5.5.0-r3 in my overlay and it is being compiled right now ( so far it seems it will probably build fine). One thing- this abuild imports toolchain.eclass and that one expects to see tar.bz2 package, while gcc mirrrors seem to be offering just xz and gzip. So either change toolchain.eclass ( I didn't bother to) or repack gcc-5.5.0.tar.xz/gzip to tar.bz2 I've attached patchset.

Compiled it. It seems to work just fine. But for some reason, refuses to be compiled with flto. In that case, compile fails at the very and when it compares stages 2 and 3, determines that they differ and aborts.
