I have emerge new kde-3.3.0 and it work bell, but i does not configure sound with kmixctrl.

bash-2.05b$ kmixctrl
QPixmap: Cannot create a QPixmap when no GUI is being used
QPixmap: Cannot create a QPixmap when no GUI is being used
kmix: ERROR: snd_ctl_open err=No such file or directory
kmix: ERROR: snd_ctl_open err=No such file or directory

In kde-3.2.3 work well

PS: i have installed kde-3.2.3 and kde-3.3.0

I have the same problem (but thanks to the gentoo's alsasound script the mixer values are saved and restored without any problem)

I'll suggest to report this upstream to, I've made a search but there are not bugreports on this problem.
