dev-tex/texmfind was used many years ago to "Locate the ebuild providing a certain texmf file through regexp" it was superseded by the more more comprehensive solution app-portage/pfl http://www.portagefilelist.de/ upstream development till 2010 was on https://launchpad.net/texmfind/ and http://home.gna.org/texmfind (shut down) app-portage/pfl does the job now very good since many years, the TeX Project decided to last-rite the obsolete package now.
