The next tools are deprecated: - app-admin/aws-as-tools - app-admin/aws-cw-tools - app-admin/aws-iam-tools - app-admin/aws-rds-tools At the moment AWS documentation recomends to use awscli (dev-python/awscli). Reproducible: Always
Can you provide a link to the AWS documentation for the log, please? Do I understand you correct, that * app-admin/aws-* are still working * all app-admin/aws-* functions are available with dev-python/awscli now? * there are no newer versions of app-admin/aws-* from upstream and it is discontinued? Proxy-maint can help you in this case after clearification. Some general info about removing packages can be found in section "Removing a package". https://devmanual.gentoo.org/ebuild-maintenance/

Yes, You are correct. There are no new versions since 2014. app-admin/aws-iam-tools homepage tell that it's deprecated https://aws.amazon.com/items/4143 app-admin/aws-as-tools homepage redirecting to awscli documentation https://aws.amazon.com/items/2535 > Proxy-maint can help you in this case after clearification. I'm the proxy-maint of these packages :)
@Treecleaner These packages seem to work, but upstream suggests to switch. I could not find any user of the old AWS on #gentoo-dev to decide. I could not find out, if the new tools are feature complete or if the old are good for anything special. How should we proceed?
Those packages have been removed by Pacho in march.
