Description Michał Górny archtester Gentoo Infrastructure gentoo-dev Security 2017-10-02 16:15:46 UTC
Mauro is maintaining media-gfx/pixie. FWICS he used to be proxied by flameeyes, and the last commit attributed to him was in 2010.

Mauro, I have noticed that you've closed a large number of bugs WONTFIX without a single word of explanation, and FWICS a number of them look valid at a first glance. I should point out that it is an *unacceptable* behavior.

If you believe that a bug needs to be closed, you are *required* to provide a meaningful explanation to the reporter. Furthermore, you must not reject bugs that are actually valid.

If you are no longer interested in maintaining this package, then please let us know and/or provide a pull request removing yourself from maintainers.

I don't need to provide a meaningful explanation to the reporter, for the simple reason that I'm not a proxy maintainer, nor a dev, nor an arch tester. I resigned as a proxy, an arch tester, and a member of the BSD group a (very) long time ago (around 2010/2011 if I remember correctly); I properly reported it, as required.

Yet, I keep receiving emails, and bug reports, from bugs.gentoo.org as I'm still a proxy/arch-terster; even despite the fact I reported this bizarre situation several times in the past.

That's funny. I thought the first five times were enough. Clearly, I'm at fault here.

> I should point out that it is an *unacceptable* behavior.

I'm not the only one showing an *unacceptable* behavior, so everything is fair so far :D

Thank you for your quick reply. I guess this information got lost over the generations because there was not "maintainer bug" where we store important information like this.

I understand, that it was not correct, that your retirement was ignored/forgotten 5 times. But it was not OK to close bugs silently either. We have additional work now and bugs were not fixed which could have been fixed by others long ago.

I will remove your contact now from media-gfx/pixie as it should have been done long ago.
