Same failure here. Happens only with USE=gdbm.
The current ~amd64 apr package tests BTW hangs infinitely - had to kill the process and have now "notest" in my env for the tinderbox
I can't reproduce this with apr-util 1.6.1-r9. Is this still an issue for you?
