It is still hardmasked and seems that nothing improved since then

Please leave it in the tree, there is not much which can be improved. GE works but sometimes needs new checksums because SRC_URI changes without a new filename on updates.

Could the package.mask entry be updated a bit then? Per it, it looks the package is really broken... while it seems this is more an issue about being difficult to update it as upstream doesn't release versioned packages, right?

Sorry, I just tried to bump it as the source file has changed again. This time it seems completely broken and it looks like GoogleEarth is EOL as a standalone application.

So please treeclean it! Newer Versions seem to run within chrome...
