I just found that Arch's etckeeper have a systemd timer, can be backported in gentoo too?

See https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Etckeeper

Not using systemd, CC'ing systemd project.
Comment 2 Richard Freeman gentoo-dev 2017-07-27 13:12:26 UTC
Is there something wrong with the timer that etckeeper-1.18.6 already appears to install? Granted, it runs a bash script in /etc but that is the same as what is being done with the cron script.
