Description Tomek 2004-08-28 03:42:40 UTC
Running startx from x.org package crashes with relocation errors type 3,4,9 and 10 in module libbitmap.a. (this happens to me on pentium-mmx..)

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. emerge xorg-x11 (there is the same problem with xfree)
2. xorgconfig ("X -configure" or "xorgcfg" don't work in the same way)
3. startx

Actual Results:
X crashes.
Details in Attachment.

Expected Results:
X server started properly.

Drop pie from USE and recompile.
Comment 3 Tomek 2004-08-29 09:49:11 UTC
Nothing has changed except the duration of compilation.
Comment 4 Tomek 2004-08-30 23:08:25 UTC
What is funny is that once I tried to compile X'org with "-fno-stack-protector" as I thought that it might change sth and compilation ended up with an error of unknown flag "pentium-mmx" (in mcpu or march - don't know..)
Comment 5 Seemant Kulleen (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-09-04 10:31:00 UTC
tomek, I believe this issue is fixed in 99.90* releases of xorg-x11. Are you willing to try them? 904 is the newest in portage (and package.masK)
Comment 6 Tomek 2004-09-06 23:10:45 UTC
Unfortunately, with or without "pie" in USE flags I have the same error after compiling 99.904...
Comment 7 Tomek 2004-09-17 01:41:50 UTC
Problem unchanged with 6.8.0 ebuild from 09 Sep 2004.
