Description Ján Regeš 2017-05-29 08:19:24 UTC
New stable versions of MariaDB were released on 3 May 2017 (10.1.23) and 23 May 2017 (stable 10.2.6).

These releases includes several bugfixes and updates.

I request an update in Gentoo packages.

Thank you.

Version 10.1.23 is already in the tree ;)
Comment 2 Ján Regeš 2017-05-29 10:07:42 UTC
Thank you for quick response, Mr. Mózes :)

You're right, version 10.1.23 is already there, but this page is not updated: https://packages.gentoo.org/packages/dev-db/mariadb (last version is 10.1.22).

In the footer is "DATA CURRRENT AS OF Mon, 29 May 2017 12:00". Probably some bug or inconsistence?

An early version is in the mysql overlay as it needs EXTENSIVE testing for the client library changes. For example, i had to make an API patch so that perl and python connectors would even build with it

Hi Brian, do you have some progress with MariaDB 10.2.x? Latest stable version is 10.2.7 and our team is horny to use new features :-)))

Thank you very much for your work and have a nice day!

Hi.

I'm successfully installed yesterday mariadb-10.2.6 from yours overlay.
But only one thing - I created symlink in '/usr/share/' folder:
mysql -> mariadb
if this symlink exist - everything is ok with installation, initialization and running of mariadb-10.2.6 server.

I've tested this installation inside lxc container with 'server' use flag and without it (clients libs only).

I'm not so close with gentoo ebuilds to provide patch to fix this issue with paths. Take my pardon.

Good job Brian. Thank you.

This is because i was testing a move of the shared info but did not update the my.cnf accordingly.

It is on my todo list and a symlink is not required

On my testing "cacti" mariadb-10.2.6 server uses about 20% less memory than mariadb-10.1.25 server with same configuration. IMHO it's time to move mariadb-10.2.6 into portage tree for testing purposes.

Added 10.2.7 with a hardmask.

Please test it and be aware of some major configuration changes.
Don't just use the old versions (aka "zap new")
