@ Gentoo VMWare Bug Squashers CC: - adamcarter3@gmail.com - jstein@gentoo.org - orodruinlair@gmail.com - dilfridge@gentoo.org - whissi@gentoo.org After every minor version upgrade, my (bridged) networks had no contact to external any more. PREDECESSOR: . . . https://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=596280#c5, Hint 2 EASIER WORKAROUND, saving "Delete/Recreate" of the Network definitions: In VMware Workstation, -> Edit -> Virtual Network Editor -> Select network -> Save ( I iterated over both networks - but that may be superfluous. ) ( Unfortunately, I can only test that @ next minor upgrade. ) Afterwards, both (bridged) networks WORKSFORME. The only relevant file I detected being written a-new was . . . /etc/vmware/netmap.conf # ls -Algt /etc/vmware ... -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 190 24. Mai 10:57 netmap.conf <--- ... -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 231 16. Mär 16:33 networking ... # cat /etc/vmware/netmap.conf # This file is automatically generated. # Hand-editing this file is not recommended. network0.name = "Bridged" network0.device = "vmnet0" network1.name = "VMNet1" network1.device = "vmnet1"
This problem I have lastly observed alongside upgrade from vmware-workstation version 12.5.5 to version 12.5.6 : . . . Bug 616958 - app-emulation/vmware-workstation-12.5.6 version bump > "I could not identify any difference at all" inspired me to detect the "easier" Workaround. Backward REFERENCE: see comment_16, . . . https://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=616958#c16 Description of my installation: see comment_17, . . . https://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=616958#c17
Thank you very much for the report!
(In reply to Jonas Stein from comment #2) > Thank you very much for the report! Most welcome! My pleasure if I can contribute back a little bit at least.
With version 12.5.7 Build 5813279, the WORKAROUND seems not to be needed any more: [ https://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=616958#c27 ] [ https://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=616958#c29 ] Closing - please, re-open if the problem soars again.
