failing build log, emerge --info, "patch"

net-analyzer/ifstatus-1.1.0-r1 is failing to compile. I think this started since the recent stabilization of gcc 5.4.0-r3 p1.3.

The ebuild specifies a patch file ifstatus-1.1.0-gcc6.patch which is actually making ifstatus die. I simply removed that patch from the ebuild and ifstatus compiles, anmd runs, perfectly.

I'm attaching a tarball that contains:
build log from failed compile
emerge --info ifstatus
sample ebuild "patch"

    net-analyzer/ifstatus: No gcc6 patch in stable ebuild (bug #618234).

    Added unstable -r2 ebuild instead.

    Package-Manager: Portage-2.3.5, Repoman-2.3.2
Comment 2 Jeroen Roovers (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2017-05-12 07:19:23 UTC
Great, now it fails to compile in -r2.

net-analyzer/ifstatus-1.1.0-r1::gentoo was built with the following:
USE="" ABI_X86="64"
Comment 4 Jeroen Roovers (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2017-05-12 07:30:27 UTC
We can't tell what compiler the user has, the patch fails with GCC <6, and succeeds with GCC >=6 (apparently).

The gcc6 patch is unacceptable as is. It should be replaced with something more universally applicable. Perhaps it shouldn't even be in the tree.

Sorry about that.
