5.1.18 works fine, running kernel 4.10.9 with 5.1.20, starting my Linux VM fails with: kernel: vboxdrv: ffffffffa09ba020 VMMR0.r0 kernel: ShCrOpenGL[4097]: segfault at 0 ip 00007f2c1c3a940e sp 00007f2c1cbaa040 error 4 inVBoxOGLrenderspu.so[7f2c1c39c000+25000] and the pop-up "Failed to open a session for the virtual machine foo. The VM session was aborted Result Code: NS_ERROR_FAILURE (0x80004005) Component: SessionMachine Interface: ISession {.......}" Reproducible: Always
similar issue reported with Windows VM+R600: https://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=616166#c2 For the record, I have Linux VM+Intel graphics.
seems to be another parallel submission: https://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=616238
The upstream bug appears to be https://www.virtualbox.org/ticket/16665 as disabling 3D acceleration makes my Linux VM boot again on 5.1.20.
Also: https://www.virtualbox.org/ticket/16721
And: https://www.virtualbox.org/ticket/16693
Upstream is working on a fix.
