This looks to be some fun with embedded clutter + --disable-introspection. While looking at this, also saw this snippet in configure output of Toralfs build log: checking for gobject-introspection... no (disabled, use --enable-introspection to enable) ./configure: line 16619: test: too many arguments Because this shouldn't happen with USE=introspection and gnome-shell USE depends on mutter[introspection] I consider this bug not blocking upcoming stabilization
