Created attachment 463290 [details] media-gfx/blender-2.78b There is a ebuild for fresh 2.78b release. https://wiki.blender.org/index.php/Dev:Ref/Release_Notes/2.78/Performance_update
We were holding off for a bit because there are several ebuild fixes that need to be done and also we're adding in OSL support. I need to check if there are any new package requirements like with the 'a' bump, which is why 2.78 is still in the tree.

There is blender-2.78.c out there. I renamed the 2.78a-r1 ebuild and even appended PYTHON_COMPAT=( python3_6 ) and not just it compiled ok, but works too. So...time for a version bump?
It works with python 3.5 too.
Moving straight to v2.79.
